Department of Journalism
The main objective of the Department of Journalism is to train students as qualified journalists. As a requirement of this, the Department of Journalism is oriented towards training journalists who understand the social responsibility of the profession, respect the public's right to receive accurate information, behave ethically, and use advanced language skills in a non-discriminatory manner.
The department is staffed by internationally recognised academics who are committed to educating and supporting students well. Technical and practical courses are taught by experienced reporters, columnists, editors, writers and digital media experts who are recognised for their success in the industry. There is a pluralistic, polyphonic curriculum and a faculty community that recognises diversity and encourages independent thought and debate.
Students graduating from the Department of Journalism can work as reporter, columnist, editor, news director, news anchor, editor-in-chief, editor-in-chief, editor-in-chief, editor-in-chief, page secretary, web page designer, data journalist in local and national newspapers, news units of radio and television organisations and online news sites. In addition, journalism graduates can work as press consultants and work in press and public relations departments of various public and private sector organisations.
